A Perfect Village Brunch

A chilly and cloudy morning was made brighter with a visit for brunch to a wonderful jewel in the village, Chestnuts of Alfriston, a Bed & Breakfast with a fantastic Tearoom.

Chestnuts are situated at the bottom of the High Street virtually opposite the Coach House Galley.

Taken over by Malcolm and Mary two years ago, this little gem of a tearoom continues too serve not only super and friendly customer service to all that enter, but an extremely high standard of beautifully cooked food, a wonderful array of tasty looking baked treats including a selection of gluten free cakes and light bites. Having lunched in some wonderful restaurants in the UK, the standard of food produced here in the village and especially within Chestnuts is outstanding.

My freshly cooked Eggs Royal arrived looking perfect with the hollandaise sauce glossy and the poached egg cooked to perfection. A hot cafetiere of a flavoursome coffee with hot milk and bone china cups were brought to the table to accompany the delicious brunch.

The comfortable feeling within Chestnuts is made even more pleasurable with the careful placement of two or three books of interest placed on the corner of each table for guests to browse.

The freshly home cooked two course roast dinner served on the first Sunday of each month has become so popular that guests now need to book the event well in advance.

If you are travelling to this beautiful South Downs village in 2015 then a visit to Chestnuts Bed, Breakfast and Tearoom is a must for all visitors including cyclists, walkers, and even your four-legged furry friends.
