Alfriston Festival 2008

The Rude Mechanical Theatre Company, a professional company, present a new play, ‘Noah Babel’s Ark’ outdoors on The Tye, Cash Bar, Raffle.  Tickets from The Old Apiary, Alfriston or from Central Box Office by phone, 01323 501260, or e-mail, .  Prices: Adult £11, Senior Citizens and students 18+ in fte £9, children and students 4-17 £6, family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) £28, other Group rates available on application. United Churches’ Songs of Praise; a Service on The Tye with and for animals. Bring your pet with you! Music by the Seaford Silver Band      

Festival Barbecue on The Tye with music from the keyboard of Rod Pooley.  Start the week with a good night out. A fulsome feast included in the ticket price.  Cash bar, Raffle. Bring your own chairs, cushions, picnic rugs!  Tickets £10           7:00 pm – 10:45 pm

Family Quiz Night in the War Memorial Hall. Teams of up to 7 compete for prizes, and, of course, the honour of being Brains of Alfriston!  A light supper is included in the ticket price of £6

The Art Exhibition. Is held at the United Reform Church Hall.  From Wednesday 20th to Saturday 23rd the display is open from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm. Many of the exhibits are for sale. Admission is free.    

The Festival Family Walk.  A guided 5 mile walk from St. Andrew's Church for the whole family finishin in Alfriston in time for the Children’s activities in the afternoon.

The Festival Revue.  An evening of light hearted entertainment by talented local performers with music from Blue Heaven. Tickets £4.50, £1.50 for children under 14 years of age.  Held in the War Memorial Hall

The Family Barn Dance.  Put on your dancing shoes for all the fun of a Barn Dance to music from Blackthorn. At the War Memorial Hall. 7.30 – 10.30 pm.  Tickets include a Ploughman’s supper. Cash Bar. Raffle, Tickets: £6, children under 14 years of age £3

Saturday on The Tye Lots of fun for all ages.  The very popular Model Railway layout and a display of Dolls’ Houses can be seen in the War Memorial Hall where Teas will be served.  Don’t miss the Maypole Dancing or a ride round the village in a Rolls Royce Phantom.  Listen to the Jazz Band that will be playing throughout the afternoon. Support your favourites in the Tug-o-War competition and why not take part in the Meadow Fun Run?

The Festival Concert.  Carolus rex in Concert.  Back by popular request. This innovative group of vocalists and musicians will give a concert with music ‘from Classics to Jazz’ in St Andrew’s Church.  .Tickets: £10. Tel: 01323 871652. Pre-show supper at Deans Place £15 Tel: 01323 870248

SUNDAY ON THE TYE
Family Fun Dog Show
.  Why not enter your dog in one of the many classes? All shapes and sizes catered for!  Entrance Fee is £1.00 for all classes, payable in the ring.  In between showing your pet, listen to the Seaford Silver Band and try your luck at traditional Wellie ThrowingModel Trains and Dolls’ Houses will be on display in the War Memorial Hall where Teas will be served.

BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY

 Car Boot Sale on Alfriston Recreation Ground, from 7.00 am to 1.0 pm.  Cars and small   vans only. £8 per pitch payable on the day       Maypole Dancing at The Clergy House (admission free)

  • Traditional VILLAGE FAIR on The Tye. There are over 30 stalls with many traditional attractions for all ages including: Tilt the Bucket, Tossing the Bale, Coconut Shy, Bowling for a Pig, Meadow Belfry, Pony Rides and much more including sales of books, cakes and local produce and a chance to win fabulous prizes in the Festival’s Grand and Dine-Out Draws.  All accompanied by the mellow sound of The Johnny Spice Swing Band
